I wanted to say welcome to all the new readers that have subscribed lately, both here and on Instagram. Apparently this post about Bill’s Place on Clement got a lot of attention, and resulted in a lot of new followers, which is great, but it also goes to show you can’t always predict which posts will get the most attention. Thanks again to all the new subscribers, and thanks for following on Instagram!
It’s a strange time to be in San Francisco right now. On the one hand, we have a lot of activity amongst small businesses in the Inner Sunset, and all around town. Yet you also have a persistent narrative on cable television that would have you believe that the city is in the midst of a real life remake of “The Warriors” . What’s even stranger is that some people in our city who should know better seem to believe this fantastical vision, or at least talk like it is.
Yet in the Inner Sunset, we are seeing progress, despite all the things going on locally and elsewhere. The long-vacant brewery building at 9th and Irving seems to have found a new business to open up in that long-vacant space. This place has been vacant for too long, and it will be nice to have something open up there.
Just down the street, the vacant space last occupied by Jamba Juice will have a new tenant, Gregoire, known for their “potato puffs” and chicken sandwiches. Across the street on Irving, Saint Frank will be opening soon, replacing the Starbuck’s that had been there for years.
Also, the Inner Sunset Flea Market will be happening again on Sunday. These events just get better and better, with quality vendors and entertaining musicians. Angie and the good people at Sunset Mercantile really make these events shine, and they’ve become something I really look forward to.
Finally, after 2 years of hard work, it looks like Progress Hardware is making progress in their restoration after that awful fire. The apartment building remains vacant, however, and it’s unclear if or when it will ever be restored.
Here’s a few photos I didn’t post to Instagram. This house, complete with matching “little library” was particularly nice:

Here’s a set of pictures I took at Kite Hill Park the other day. You would not believe how many people do not believe this was taken in San Francisco, and yet, it was.

That’s all for now. I’m working on a few bigger posts but they are taking longer than I thought, so I wanted to do a quick update for now. Thanks again for reading!
